the bottom of his list.
"We have also had reports of a Long Arm class character,
fitting your description exactly I might ad, that has recently been involved in over 700 player killings over the last three
days." Is that so, then I am afraid I must express my sympathy for your losses." "What losses!!!" Kamui said in an acidic tone of voice. Koji activated his item, which raised his level and stats
to maximum for three minutes. "These losses," he said calmly. Then he called out "GiRai Vortex!!!" and killed all eight knights
in on slash, leaving Kamui along as her knight's corpses slowly faded
out. "Hmm, I had no idea you had this much power, but I am never caught unprepared. Now!!! Surround Him!!!" Kamui shouted out. And sure enough, hundreds of knights warped in surrounding Kamui and Koji. "You had backup waiting, but it won't help. GiRai Doom!!!" Koji shouted
as he cut a nine person by ninety-person path through the knights. "Stop him!!!" Kamui
shouted but Koji was already moving through the closing ranks of knights. As the nights were about to catch him Koji just
reached the chaos gate and warped out of Dun Loriag and went to Mac Anu. When he reached the Mac Anu chaos gate he tried to
log out. As his character frame started to break up around him he was suddenly thrust back down and his character frame reformed
around him. Koji was expelled from the chaos gate as if a giant hand had smacked him away. He landed in a heap at the bottom
Mac Anu stairs near the recorder. He picked himself up and went to save again. After killing all of those Cerulean knights
he had gained two levels. But as he went to the recorder the same freaky glitch thing happened as before and the NPC told
him to go to Delta: Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground…

can't let problems occur as they did the last time. Balmung, people got hurt..."
"Oh course," Balmung said, exiting the communication
program. He sat silent for a moment, thinking. 8 players. Stuck in The World, they hadn't logged off for over a week. Not
only that, but odd monster sightings, and just plain numbers that weren't adding up kept showing up. Balmung stood up suddenly,
and the Admin room went dark.

Balmung arrived at the area, his weapon already drawn.
Rather innocent background music surrounded him. It seemed so peaceful. A long walked way led to a large, almost church looking
structure. No monsters, It didn’t look like a MMORPG map. Balmung walked down the walkway, his armor clanking as he
did. He came to the door of the large structure, and opened the door carefully. Sure enough, one of them was there.
"The Wavemaster, called Rin...Please, I need a word
with you"

Rin jumped up at the sound of someone else's voice,
grabbing her staff and appeared ready to battle. She saw it was Balmung, a System Administrator, and didn't relax.
"Just my luck, it turns out it isn't one of those Crimson
Knight bastards trying to delete me, it's a System Administrator. Why won't you guys leave me alone? I didn't do anything,
so you all can just buzz off!!!"
Balmung looked at Rin questionably, and then went over
to the Aura statue. Gazing up at it, he starts to speak...
"Why is this happening for a third time...? Morganna
was gone never to come back before... how did she come back...?"
Rin looked incredulously at Balmung.
"If you want to delete me, go ahead and try. I can
beat you!"
Balmung ignored her, continuing his train of thought.
"Who could have brought her back? Surely not Helba
or any of the hackers from the Net Slums... But it has to have been a skilled hacker that was present during the first Twilight
incident..."

Polaris logged in ready to try and get a few more levels.
He decided to look on the BBS for some keywords for
easy dungeons with lots of treasure. And there it was. Under a thread titled ghost sighting an anonymous name, someone posted
about a ghostly girl in an area called *Delta Hidden, Forbidden, Holy Ground*.
Polaris quickly decided to check it out.
*Delta Hidden, Forbidden, Holy Ground*.
An eerie sound pierced the air when he warped into
the area. He toggled First person POV and looked around this area was not like the rest.
A dark and gloomy church stood across the bridge and
around the bridge was absolute nothingness. He ran towards the door and stopped. He listened into the church and heard shouting.
He opened the door and saw a young man with white hair
and beautiful armor, which had glorious, wings extruding from his back.
The Winged-Warrior seemed to be confronting another
player, who looked like a Wavemaster.
The Wavemaster had long dark red pants, white socks
and red shoes, a red sleeveless shirt, a strange wand, and a blue pendant around his neck.
Polaris decided to sit quietly and watch the argument
quietly as he could never defeat the two warriors.

Rue looked through his mailbox, searching for something...
anything, that could help. He had to know how a week had passed by, and he didn't remember any of it.
"There must be SOMETHING in there, I have to see..."
He ran through his old messages that he hadn't bothered to delete, frantically looking for something, ANYTHING that could
help.
Finally, he saw a message. It didn't have a 'new' flag
next to it, so he hadn't noticed it right away.
"Huh... that's bizarre. That would be saying I already
read this. But I don't remember it at all."
He opened it. There was no avatar photo available,
and the username said only 'SYSTEM.'
Rue looked at the message, and he frowned under his
helmet. "What the hell?"
It said only one thing: Delta Hidden Forbidden Holy
Ground, the beginning to the end, ashes to ashes and dust to dust...'
Rue got out of his mailbox and walked to the warp gate.
"This could be a trap," he told himself as he put in the keywords. "But seeing this is the only lead I got, there isn't really
a choice."
He felt himself transporting away, and actually felt
some unease at the feeling...

Delta Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground
Rue appeared and looked around. "Huh... Not at all
what I was expecting." He said. Then he turned around, and caught sight of the magnificent building.
"Wow... It looks so... wow." Rue's grip on his Phantom
Blade tightened... partially in fear, partially in anticipation. As he started towards the building, he thought more about
his surroundings.
"There's no monsters, no portals, no mist springs,
nothing. Just what kind of area is this anyway?"
He walked up the stairs, and entered the open doorway.
Inside was a fairly lit, grand and regal church.
Some people were at the end, near an altar of sorts.
He couldn't see it from the back. Rue slowly started towards the altar, but hesitated. "I don't think I should have anything
to do with these guys... Maybe I should go."

Somewhere, deep inside a dungeon...
Drakan sliced viciously with his massive swords, cutting
the vile skeleton warrior in half from top to bottom, its discolored scimitar clattering to the floor. Another series of blows
felled another of the undead freaks, its head falling from its shoulders.
The third such creature lunged at him, causing a slight
wound, but Drakan countered with a vicious stab that skewered the creature's skull, causing critical damage. The battle ended,
and Drakan checked his experience total. That couldn't be right! He was only a few points from reaching level 40, but when
he had last started playing, he had only just reached level 38. Just how long had he been playing for? Drakan realized that
he did not know...
In fact, he wasn't even sure where he was at the moment...
Something strange was going on. He must have been in the game for a long time, but why had he not logged out?
Now that he thought about it, he remembered trying
to log out, but being unsuccessful... Had he decided to wait and try again? Maybe that was it, but Drakan realized that the
more pressing concern was to return to town and try to logout once more.

log out, that is until he saw another player walk into the church.
This hero was dressed in full armor. Polaris decided
that talking to this guy would be more fun than listening to the others. He walked toward the warrior.
"Hey, how's it going?"

Rue turned around as he heard someone ask him how he
was doing.
"Huh? Oh, I'm good... What brings you here?"
"Ah... curiosity." The Wavemaster said idly, crossing
his arms behind his head.
Rue nodded and looked back to the door. "Huh... that's
odd..." He murmured. "It was closed before..."
He trotted over to the door and tried to push. It wouldn't
budge. He then gritted his teeth and slashed at the door. No avail.
"Alright, I do NOT have time for this!" He groaned,
as he stepped back. He charged forward, jumping and landing a devastating smash on the door. Any monster would've been KO'ed
on the spot, but the door held.
Rue let out a sigh. "What the hell is with this place!?"
He moaned. The Wavemaster walked over to him, and glanced at the door.
"Uh oh... that isn't good."
"I need to get out of here! This was such a waste of
time. And I didn't find out anything at all as to why I can't-"
Rue stopped. He still wasn't sure if it was right to
tell anyone about his problem.
"Can't what?" The Wavemaster asked, cocking his head
to the side with interest.
"Can't... log out." Rue said, lowering his head. "I
only found this out recently... And I apparently haven't logged out in a WEEK."
The Wavemaster stroked his chin. "That's bizarre."
The two stood in silence.
Suddenly, the Wavemaster put his hand out. "Polaris."
Rue nodded and grabbed his hand. "Rue."

between a few players. "Hmm, new pray for my blade," he said in an amused voice. Koji activates another of his illegally edited
items, the "Book of Hidden Motives", which would allow him 45 seconds of near invisibility. As he watched his body vanish
before him he slowly opened the door, which didn't make a sound. But as soon as he fully entered the door closed behind him
soundlessly. Koji was so intent on his newfound prey that he didn't notice the closing door. He steadily climbed into the
rafters to await his opportunity to strike...

Balmung stood in the entrance. It was chaos outside. The one that had attacked Rin and the Balmung had his backed turned to
the Azure knight. Koji was his name. He had hacked items on him, and was quite a player killer.
Backup was already coming.
"Sky Dragon!" Balmung shouted over the chaos, tilting
the tip of his blade at the PK. The player turned to him, and everyone's eyes went to Balmung. His sword glowed a sudden electric
blue. "Your not getting away now my friend, I suggest you give up, or I'll have to delete you with force," Balmung said, with
a sudden very serious face.

Another lightning bolt cracked down right at his feet.
Rue shook his head and looked up, frowning. Whoever was up there and hit him was going to pay.
"Alright, I've been looking for something to give this
blade a test drive on. You'll seem to do fine!"
Rue bent his knees, and his blade began to release
dark energy. Finally with a great heave, he jumped high into the air.
"ANI REVOLVER!" He shouted, twirling like a top as
he shot up into the air. His blade tore into the rafters, and he also hit something else... another player.
"Ungh!!" The player groaned as he lost his balance
and began to fall to the floor. Rue caught footing on a rafter and watches the player fall.
"Alright! Rue of the Azure Land will finish the job!"
He leaped from the rafter and somersaulted, gathering another wave of dark power. He held his blade over his head, and shouted
"ANI CRACK!!"
He landed with a slam as his blade cracked into the
floor. He looked up through the dust. The player had rolled away and back onto his feet. He had a stern look on his face.
"Didn't think you could get me up there. But this isn't
over." He reached into his robes for something.
That's when he felt a staff against the back of his
head.
"Move and your dust!" Polaris said.
Rue walked over and pointed the blade at his neck.
"Filthy PK's! I ought to-"
"Halt."
Rue turned and saw Balmung walking up to him. He put
a hand on Rue's shoulder, and Rue's eyes bulged. Balmung of the Azure Sky? Touching MY shoulder?? I'll never change this armor
ever again!
"You've done well... what was it? 'Rue of the Azure
Land?' That's funny."
Rue flushed under his helmet. "I... uh... well, see
it... a-heh... wishful thinking, really..."
A slight smile played at Balmung's face. "Good job
anyway." He turned to the player and frowned. "Now, you. I believe you have explaining to do."

to die the area flashed and a girl appeared but only for a second and the monster disappeared Rein ran out of the dungeon
as fast as he could not wanting to be caught by another monster like it..."She said something it sounded like...delta hidden
forbidden holy ground"...
Soon after he entered the church like structure he
heard someone else coming. Not wanting to be found he hid waiting for the girl to appear again... As the Wavemaster introduced
himself Rein decided that it would be best to come out of hiding (slightly) and introduce himself if everyone decided to be
peaceful or at least give him a way he can get out without anyone seeing him. Unknowing to him the light got caught on the
blade end of weapon and made a flash

armor grew around his body.

as you have this item those restrictions will be lifted to you. But beware, as these restrictions are lifted on you to kill,
others will be able to kill you.' "I will still accept." 'Then I give to you the power of the Data Bug, as long as you have
it activated you cannot die. Beware of Data Drain though, for it's power can remove the protection this item will give you.
Now, sleep and begin your new life here in the world with me.' And with that he lost consciousness in the real world. When
he awoke, almost a week ago, he had started his rampage, stalking the newby server Mac Anu.)

player hiding near the door. Why don't you join us, oh yee of little level???" and with that he held out his glowing hand
and his weapon returned to him. As the little player approached, Koji caught sight of movement to his left. "Drop the swords,
all of you. Unless you want your data deleted, that is…

can't analyze how it works, all I get is a message that says it's a level 1,000,000 item prototype designed to combat the

the opponents neck watching as the players body goes limp Rein walks over and opens the chest grabbing the priest's stole
and dropping the worthless yellow candy and ivory barrette on the dead players body

Koji smiled and stroked his chin. "So you're playing
the World 24/7, no school, no work, no idiots in the real world to deal with? Sounds like fun to me."
"Yeah, but what about why I can't remember anything
within the past week? And what the hell is happening to my body while I'm here??"
Koji's smile faded. "Well okay, there are SOME drawbacks,
but still..."
"You can't understand how freaked out I am!"
"Everybody, calm down." Balmung said. "And Rue... this
is no the first time this has happened..."
While the conversation went on, no one noticed the
monster that had materialized in a shadowy corner of the room... not even when the bright green computer code began etching
itself over its body...

The monster, which bore a strange resemblance to a
Dark Starfish, roared.
Rin took a quick glance at its stats. "It says it's

The creature spun around and swatted Rue across the
room. He skidded backwards and slammed against a wall. "Damn... it's so strong!" He said, using up 3 Health potions.
"Everyone! You have to get away! I'll take care of
this!" Balmung shouted, drawing his sword. "You can't fight this. And the only person that can... isn't with us."
"Hey!" Polaris yelled to Koji. "You've gotta have something
that can help us!"
"Dammit man, I'm not a walking lifesaver here!" Koji
glared at him. "I don't know how to fight this thing either..."
Rue gritted his teeth and ran at it again. "Well I'm

bench, nearly cracking the wood under the weight of her plate armor.
I can't log out... So, if I can't log out... I can't
leave the game. Maybe someone can find me and shut it off... But what if that leaves me in a coma? Or worse... What can I
do? ...
I guess I'll need to find my own way out. Maybe the
boards- no, the World has too much publicity. I'm sure that the moment someone posts about something that doesn't make the
World look good, its deleted. They might even deny it and delete my data. That would be bad.

"Giga freeze!!!" Koji shouted again. And again the
creature froze in place for one minute. "Hurry and recover everyone. NO!!!, don't waste your SP on me!!! I haven't taken any
damage because of my armor, but I still feel as if a steamroller hit me. Hurry, it's breaking free!!!" Thin cracks started
to appear on the freeze program, then suddenly the area became glitchy, there was white noise on the screen and the graphics
were flickering on and off. Something was comming, something very powerful. The data bug broke free from the program and was
about to smack Rin again, when suddenly it froze, then its viral armor broke off in an explosion of color and sound. When
it was done the Dark Starfish was standing looking rather stupid. Before it could attack, "Pha VakRom!!!", Koji shouted as
fireballs rained down upon it. The weak creature was easily defeated and the sounds of rushed level ups could be heard over
the screen noise. "It's gone," Balmung said. "But what took it's armor???" Rue asked as Koji dropped his viral armor. "What
has the power to strip a creature of it's armor like that???" Koji asked in his amused tones again, "Whoever or whatever it
is I'd like to meet it..."

Rue watched him as he gated out of the area. Polaris
walked up next to him. "What a weirdo. But he did help us."
"Yeah, I suppose. Maybe he can help us more in figuring
out what the hell is wrong with us."
"Hey." Rue heard behind him.
Rue turned around and saw the girl Wavemaster... Rin,
was it?
"Uh... hey." Rue said, scratching the back of his helmet
nervously.
"Impressive skills." She said.

"Looks like we're all wrapped up in something big.

orange glow. "Net Slum!!!" Koji said. He was warped into the infamous hacker Helba's private server. He walked around until
he found who he was looking for. "Old man, I need some information," Koji asked an extremely old looking artificial AI. "Well
young one. You have come to the right place. Tartarga's the name, information is my game," the AI known as Tartarga said.
"I need info on a creature I just battled with, it had viral armor just like mine." And with that Koji told Tartarga the entire
story. "Hmm, this is not good, not good at all." "What happened??? What did I fight???" Koji asked in slightly flustered tones.
"What you fought was called a Data Bug. A monster infected by a virus that rewrites the monsters data, giving it unlimited
life and unlimited SP. It is one of the strongest things you can find in this game." "One of the strongest??? Does that mean
that there is something even stronger lurking within The World???" "Yes," Tartarga said in a secretive voice, " Beware the
Eight Phases, they are the strongest beings in this world. I can say no more about them so do not ask for more. But I can
say this, seek out the bracelet, its power can defeat the data bugs. Now go, seek the one who holds the bracelet. Give him
this message, 'Come to Net Slum, find Helba and ask for her assistance'." and with that, Tartarga warped out. "Seek the holder
of the Bracelet eh, sounds like fun. Oh well, I found what I was looking for. Ooh, looks like some newbies are in the alley,
I'll get them and start my search." Koji walked back to the reddish orange chaos gate and called out, "Delta Mac Anu!!!" and
with a flash, he was on his way to have some fun...

dungeon wondering why there aren't any monsters as he travels down he sees them...As he gets closer to the end the monster
portals are getting less frequent on the last level there was only about three. Level up thinking proudly he smiled as he
entered the unexplored room. It was a dead end a Red Wyrm appeared "****" Knowing what as going to happen he ran forward and
attacked the monster fell rather quickly but when it got up the green armor that Koji was wearing coated it. Looking up at
the beast he opens his arms and got ready to be killed the beast moving its head back and then black...Rein was sitting at
the corner of the delta server as he got up he felt pain he looked under his robe seeing the burn marks on his chest "At least
I'm alive."

Siegmunde raised his blades and quickly launched himself at the PK'er. Koji easily countered the move and slashed him across
the chest, dropping his HP down to 6, causing him to begin flashing red. Siegmunde turned and ran as Koji gave chase but he
managed to reach the chaos gate just a hair before Koji could cut his head off. "Aw, maybe next time." he said to himself.
He turned and walked back to the alley. As he was about to use the secret Chaos gate again, a powerful knight appeared before
him. "I am Magsudes of the Cerulean Knights. Player Koji, no, hacker scum, I have been dispatched to bring you into custody."
He said as he raised his sword. Koji raised his own blade and launched himself at his attacker.

guessing that he would be asked the same question and thinking of his response.

Just
when it looked like he'd defeated it, the MuGuardian... exploded.

then, a figure rose from the spot where it had fallen. It was think... gray... but what stood out about it was its blood-red
staff, with a circle and a cross at the top.
The
other Rue ran at it and tried to strike it, but to no avail. Every hit was a miss... it was so weird.
Finally,
the creature grabbed Rue by his neck and threw him. He collided with the wall painfully.
The
creature hovered over to the collapsed Rue. Then, the Rue began to rise, his arms held out... He looked behind him; there
was the creature's staff... What was going on??
The
creature held out its hand. A weird light began to encircle it.
"The
light..." Rue said, eyes widening. "I... I remember it..."
He
suddenly heard someone utter words quietly in the back of his head...
"The
Terror of Death... Data Drain..."
A
powerful light erupted from the creature's hand and pierced Rue's torso. His head snapped backwards, eyes rolling back into
his head. The pain... the pain was excruciating...
"GYAAAAAAGH!!"
Rue screamed. His eyes rolled back into place. He was back in the church.

looked at him with an eyebrow raised in curiosity. "What happened to you?"

his head. He started to rise up off the floor, his viral armor started to flash on and off around him even though he had not
activated it. "No… Stop!!! Stop trying to get into my head!!! Ahhhhh!!!" Koji screamed in unending agony. Then his armor
exploded off of him sending Rue flying 10 feet backwards. The statue of the girl started to glow the same color as Koji was.[a
bluish color] The scattered remnants of his armor started floating up from the floor. The started to turn from their normal
green to an electric blue color as their program code was rewritten. As the last plate turned blue, they suddenly shot towards
Koji. His armor began placing itself in a different position then before. Koji was screaming in pain all the time until his
armor disappeared and he fell to the floor unconscious...

though!!! I think that we are going to find out!!!"

monster appeared from within the statue and struck, exactly where a moment before Rue stood.
"Damn
it's fast, Polaris try to wake Koji!!"
"Alright,
Polaris ran towards the fallen warrior trying to cure him but he could not see a problem, Koji's hp was full, his sp as well,
he had no ailments, "Dammit there's no way I can help him." Polaris cried to Rue as the great knight fought valiantly against
the monstrosity. "But I also called the others and help should arrive soon... hopefully."
